The Y is the starting point for many youth to learn about becoming and staying active, and developing healthy habits they’ll carry with them throughout their lives. And the benefits are far greater than just physical health. Whether it’s gaining the confidence that comes from learning to swim or building the positive relationships that lead to good sportsmanship and teamwork, participating in sports at the Y is about building the whole child, from the inside out.
Youth Basketball League
It is time once again for the most popular sport at the YMCA! Our youth basketball league is a developmental recreation program for youth ages 7-18. The program objectives are:
- Development of fundamentals
- Teaching sportsmanship and character development
- Socialization between teammates & other teams
- Enjoyment of the game of basketball
Youth Instructional Basketball
Family Hoops: For boys and girls ages 3-4. This is an instructional program that involves interaction with Mom or Dad as children are introduced to the game and skills of basketball in a group environment. A great opportunity to get involved with your child as he or she enters the world of athletics! A family that plays together stays together! Hoopsters: For boys and girls ages 5-6 An instructional program that focuses on the “FUN”damentals! Children will learn and implement the basics of basketball. This carefully designed and action-packed program prepares kids for the next level of the YMCA’s progressive basketball leagues. Hoopsters: where every kid is a HOOP-STAR!
Have fun with friends and learn the skills and fundamentals of the game of Volleyball. Children are sure to come away with a positive experience regardless of their skill level. Our Adult Co-ed Volleyball League offers a fun way to exercise with friends in an energetic sport. This league provides a challenging level of play for recreational players and is designed to encourage fair play. We welcome volleyball players of all abilities in a family-friendly environment. Are you looking to better develop your volleyball skills? This NEW Volleyball Clinic is a perfect way to learn all aspects of the game while gaining confidence. This program will meet twice a week for eight weeks. These hour and a half sessions place intense focus on fitness, passing, serving, hitting, setting, and blocking while learning team responsibilities. Shito Ryu Karate-Do is the way in which a karate student develops not the fighting skills, but the self-confidence and the discipline needed to lead a productive life and become a valuable member of the community.
