Qualified YMCA Swim Lessons Instructor(s) will be teaching the important aspects of water adjustment, use of IFD's and PFD's, Boat Safety, Character Development, how to have fun in the water and stroke development!

Parent/Child Swim Lessons (6 mo.- 36 mo.)

The Parent and Child Program is for toddlers and their parent (s). The objective is to help both the parent and the child become comfortable in the water. The child will become aware of the differences between moving through water while the parent becomes aware of teaching their child to be safe in and around the water. The class is designed to allow children to have fun while the parent guides and demonstrates to them aquatic skills. An instructor will be available to facilitate and guide parents through the learning process.

Beginner Swim Lessons

Students learn skill progressions which build the foundation for swimming the front crawl and the elementary backstroke.  These progressions include gliding, floating, kicking and treading water.  Students will advance to the next level after mastering all of these skill progressions.  Water safety rules and skills are also presented.  One instructor for every 5 students allows for more individualized attention.

Children will receive a report card at the end of each session.

 Intermediate Swim Lessons

Intermediate students will work on stroke development using the skills learned in Beginner class.  They will learn the front crawl and the backstroke.  Before advancing to the next level, they will use rhythmic rotary breathing to swim continuously for 25 yards.  Further safety and age-appropiate rescue skills are presented.  This class has one instructor for every 6 students.

Children will receive a report card at the end of each session.

  Advanced Swim Lessons

Prerequisite: able to swim 25 yards unassisted using the front crawl and backstroke.  This class will focus on stroke development in all four competitive swim strokes and includes one instructor with a maximum class size of 10 students.

For the adult who is either a non-swimmer or a swimmer in need of refinement. Emphasis is placed on water adjustment and basic stroke technique.

Make-Up Policy: The second cancelled class of each session will be made-up on the noted make-up day. Members and participants will be contacted by the instructor with the date and time of the make-up class.
